Description:
The rare red angel's trumpet, Brugmansia sanguinea, is of the most distinctive and striking species of the genus. It has trumpet shaped flowers that are smaller than the hybrids. They are yellow at the base and on the sides and bright red on the lower half of the trumpets. This high elevation species blooms best in cool temperatures in spring and fall and may bloom less in summer. Grow in a pot or in a garden bed near the patio. Bring inside as a houseplant in winter or throw it in a dark basement to "hibernate" (really!).
