Perovskia atriplicifolia 'Blue Steel' has some of the darkest blue flowers of the Russian sages.
Description:
Perovskia atriplicifolia 'Blue Steel' has very dark blue flowers held on upright, branching stems over a long period in summer into fall with great vigour and toughness for hot, sunny sites. Foliage is silver-green. Does best with dry hot conditions forming a lovely haze of colour at the front to middle of the border. Also great for summer containers. The hotter the location, the happier the Russian sage. Great for pollinators.

Native Habitat: Native to southwestern and central Asia and parts of eastern Europe. The harsh habitats it prefers are comparable to the sagebrush steppe of North America. It is found in steppes and on hillsides, and grows at higher elevations in mountainous regions, including the Himalayas. May be an indicator species for soils with low calcium availability.
