Ipheion uniflorum 'Alberto Castillo' is a choice cultivar with larger, white, star shaped flowers scented of violet.
Description:
Ipheion uniflorum 'Alberto Castillo' is a choice cultivar of this very long-blooming species. It has larger, white, star shaped flowers scented of violet, bearing faint green, central stripes on their petals, grassy, grey green foliage, and enjoys more sun than the species. Flowering is not affected if the foliage is frozen. Named for the collector who found it in an abandoned Buenos Aires garden in the 1980s, it naturalizes easily. Foliage has an onionlike scent when crushed, deterring deer and rodents.
