Pterocephalus depressus is a peculiar, drought-tolerant ground cover with deep purple-red buds and silver-pink flowers.


Description:
Pterocephalus depressus is a peculiar, drought-tolerant relative of Scabiosa with year round interest. It forms an evergreen mat of grey-green, crinkled leaves to just two inches high spreading to 18 inches or more. In late spring through summer deep purple-red buds form just above the foliage opening to heads of silver-pink flowers turning to attractive silver seed heads. Tolerates light foot traffic. Works well as a ground cover at the front of the border or between patio stones. Provide good winter drainage.
