Hosta 'First Blush' is the first burgundy-leaved cultivar and a breakthrough in hosta breeding!
Description:
'First Blush' is a breakthrough in the hosta world from breeder Bob Solberg. It is the first burgundy-leaved plantain lily. Not only does it have red petioles (leaf stems), a red edge to the leaves, and red in the lower veins but the foliage is also flushed with burgundy across most of the leaf blade! New foliage emerges green quickly turning to burgundy. In cool summer climates like the West Coast the burgundy can remain all summer into fall. In hot summer climates the burgundy can fade to green when temperatures reach the low 30s Celsius. Be the first to own this amazing Hosta. We first offered this cultivar a number of years ago. Now the price is about half bringing it in reach to more gardeners.
