Magnolia virginiana 'Jim Wilson' Moonglow offers profuse displays of white, lemon-scented flowers and evergreen foliage.
Description:
Magnolia virginiana 'Jim Wilson' Moonglow offers profuse displays of cup-shaped, sweetly fragrant, lemon-scented, creamy white, waxy flowers from May until August, even on young plants only 2-3 years old. Cone-like fruits with bright red seeds mature in fall for a showy display. The foliage is shiny green and silver beneath which looks amazing on a windy day. The trees are evergreen in milder climates to semi-evergreen in colder zones, a rare thing in zone 5 and 6 gardens, and have a compact, full growth habit forming a beautiful oval to vase-shaped form with more vigour than the species. Could be deciduous in cold winters in colder zones. Tolerant of wet soils. For the 2024 Rare Flowering Tree Pre-Order plants will be in 15cm pots and about 1 foot tall.
