Five-flavour berry or magnolia vine is a unique and unusual, extremely hardy vine from China and Russia. In spring it has small, lightly fragrant, snow white flowers with a flush of pink at the centre that develop into bright crimson berries with a distinctive and tart flavour and aroma perfect for tasty juice and preserves. Schisandra chinensis 'Eastern Prince' is a self-fertile selection that can produce up to 20 pounds of fruit per vine. Dried leaves, shoots and roots can be used to make a tea. An important plant in Chinese medicine.
