Description:
Oceanspray (Holodiscus discolor) is a common and distinctive deciduous shrub in coastal BC most often seen along shorelines and along hiqhways with its clouds of tiny creamy white flowers that cover the plants in early summer. It has a loose, graceful habit with lobed deciduous leaves. It is an important nectar source for native bees and butterflies and is a larval host for native butterflies. It also has a long history of use by First Nations peoples. Salt and drought tolerant.
