Iris tectorum has lovely, large, six inch wide blue flowers with white and purple markings. The foliage is arranged in fans of narrow, lance-shaped, ribbed, glossy, upright leaves that add a nice texture to the garden. Commonly called roof iris because it has, in the past, been grown on thatched roofs in both Japan and China. Use in rock gardens or in large drifts. Drought and deer tolerant. Photo credit Wikipedia.
