Hepatica transsilvanica 'Blue Jewel' is a vigorous, easy-to-grow treasure with royal blue flowers over mounds of tri-lobed foliage.
Description:
Evergreen mats of basal, leathery, tri-lobed, dark green foliage hunker below delicate, starry-eyed blue flowers in early spring that, in this cultivar, are larger than the species. This little collector’s item can be grown in a wide range of conditions, but does especially well in alkaline soil, which should be moist but with good drainage. Good under deciduous trees, in raised beds, in the rock garden or in containers and easier to grow than other species of Hepatica.
