Description:
'Calamandarin' is a cross of the calamondin or calamansi (xCitrofortunella mitis) and a mandarin orange (Citrus reticulata). We know very little about it at this point as it is so new but it is supposed to have good cold tolerance. It may offer some interesting new possibilities in the kitchen with the sour notes of the calamondin combining with the sweet sugars of the mandarin into a tasty hybrid fruit. All of our citrus are grafted onto C-35 citrange, trifoliate orange, or other semi-dwarfing rootstock which confer good hardiness and production while reducing overall tree size.
