Description:
Gentiana makinoi 'Blue Star', commonly known as gentian, is a mid to late summer bloomer with stunning violet-blue to royal blue flowers that are upright and tubular with speckled throats and yellow stamens complemented with glossy green foliage. Growth habit is a compact and clumping to 12 inches tall and 8 inches wide. Thrives in humus rich soil that is consistently moist and well-draining. Mass plant in the front of the sunny border, in the rock or pollinator gardens, and in containers. Hummingbird and pollinator attractor.
