Penstemon grandiflorus 'Prairie Jewel' is an improved large beardtongue with succulent-like blue-green-grey foliage with tall spikes of white to lavender-pink to deep purple tubular flowers that bloom from late spring to late summer. Stems can reach 18 to 36 inches tall. Deadheading in the first two years encourages stronger plants. Requires very well-drained soil. Use in the mid to back of the border for vertical appeal, in the pollinator garden, and in the vase. Attracts hummingbirds and other pollinators.
