Olea europaea Perpetua

('productnameshort')

Olea europaea Perpetua is hardy to zone 7 once mature and produces abundant crops of large, flavourful, early-ripening fruit.

Description:
Olea europaea Perpetua ('Nikita #2') is from the Nikita Botanic Garden in the Ukraine. It offers particularly good cold hardiness and can survive in zone 7 once mature though young plants would need protection. It produces abundant crops of large, flavourful, early-ripening fruit. Use it to make green or black olives and tasty olive oil. The presence of a different olive cultivar for pollination is likely required. Olives can be hardy in coastal BC in protected locations with excellent drainage. They will benefit from mulching and added protection in cold snaps. Elsewhere they make easy and beautiful container specimens and houseplants or greenhouse plants in winter. Provide as much heat and sun as possible in summer.
