Acer palmatum 'Ukigomo' is the most spectacular variegated cultivar often referred to as the floating cloud Japanese maple. It is a treasured upright deciduous tree with new foliage emerging light pink aging to white and green though, viewed from a distance, it looks mostly white. An ethereal focal point and conversation piece for the shadier garden. 10' tall x 8' wide in 10 years. Japanese maples change through the seasons generally offering different colours and foliage patterns through spring, summer, and fall. We choose our photo to show the most distinctive characters but an internet image search will help you understand how each cultivar will change through the seasons.
