Ornamental onions offer intriguing spherical or egg-shaped inflorescences comprised of hundreds of tiny flowers. Allium ‘Party Balloons’ is an impressive ornamental onion with huge lavender spheres up to eight inches across. Also, mature bulbs can produce 2-3 globes per bulb rather than the usual single sphere on stems about two feet tall. Available in fall as a dry bulb and sometimes potted up in spring.
