Iris 'Frodo' has purple standards and darker purple falls stamped with red around white beards.
Description:
'Frodo' makes a dramatic show despite its small stature with purple standards and darker purple falls that are stamped with a dark red circle around the showy white beards. Fragrant. Blooms in early season on seven inch stems. The miniature dwarf bearded iris (MDB) are hybrids involving Iris pumila and other species and hybrids. They look like the classic tall bearded iris but are extra small at under eight inches often with the flowers near the top of the bluish straplike leaves. They are the earliest bearded iris to bloom. Use them at the front of the border, along pathways, and in rockeries in full sun in average to dry situations. Divide every two to three years (or when clumps become congested and flowering decreases) just after blooming. Trim the foliage back to a third and plant the rhizomes at or just below soil level. Deer and rabbit resistant.
