Mexican snowball is aptly named as the succulent rosettes are an icy blue colour and this species is the hardiest of the Echeveria, a genus of succulents with their centre of diversity in Mexico. E. elegans 'Giant' is a larger form than the regular species. Planted out of the rain it can survive a West Coast winter. Elsewhere grow as a houseplant in winter in a cool, bright window and keep dry until spring.
