Echinacea 'Sweet Sandia' is a purple (and green) coneflower with intriguing single, broad petaled, bicolour flowers with watermelon pink petals and contrasting lime-green tips around a reddish to burnt orange central cone. Tons of flowering stems rise 18-24 inches above lance-shaped green foliage all summer long until frost. Use en masse for the border, in a mixed bed, and as a cut flower. Echinacea in coastal BC should be planted in hot, dry, sunny spots with thin, average to poor soils for best overwintering.
