Description:
Gladiolus italicus is a smaller, hardy wildflower native to Europe and North Africa. Its delicate magenta flowers, arching away from the stems, make it an antidote to heavy, cultivated gladiolus and an excellent choice for bright spring colour. It is easygoing and naturalizes well. Gladiolus take little space to grow, so they combine well with other sun loving plants. Bulbs require good drainage. Leave the foliage to nourish the bulb after the flower stalk is spent and mulch in winter.
