Muhlenbergia or ruby muhly grass offers clouds of ruby red flowers in late summer and fall.
This is grass with dense tufts of slender stems and foliage. It produces clouds of bright red to pinkish panicles in late summer and fall. Plant in full sun in hot locations in your garden. Use it en masse or repeat it throughout your border. The dried flower stems provide good winter interest.
