Description:
Lonicera involucrata is a non-climbing shrubby honeysuckle native to BC with large, oval leaves and pairs of tubular yellow flowers in spring held by a pair of red bracts. The flowers are followed by a pair of black berries that contrast beautifully with the persistent red bracts. Known as twinberry, bearberry, or bracted honeysuckle, the flowers are an important nectar source for native butterflies and hummingbirds and the fruit are eaten by various wildlife including birds.
