Osmanthus fragrans f. aurantiacus has small, orange, extremely fragrant, edible flowers famous in China for use in teas and other foods.

Osmanthus fragrans f. aurantiacus also known as fragrant osmanthus or tea olive has thick, glossy leaves and is slightly smaller than other varieties with extremely fragrant, orange flower clusters in late fall. New growth is bronze. The edible dried flowers are popular in China. They are used as an herbal tea or as an addition to black or green teas. They are also used to make jams, cakes, dumplings, and liquor. Plant in a protected location that has good heat in during the growing season which will encourage flowering.
