Caulokaempferia sikkimensis is an orchid ginger with bright green paddle-shaped leaves tubular white flowers with pink throats.


Description:
Caulokaempferia sikkimensis is an orchid ginger with bright green paddle-shaped leaves that up to three feet tall that resemble Canna followed by cute and unusual tubular white flowers with pink and carmine throats on three inch stems that emerge from the base of the leaf stems in fall. Plant in well-drained soils that are moist in summer and drier in winter. It is likely hardy to zone 8. Mulch with fallen leaves in winter. In colder zones, grow it as a container specimen and protect in winter. It will most likely also go dormant indoors for 2-3 months. Let it dry out and water only sparingly to keep soil off-dry until spring.
