Description:
Punica granatum 'Bala Miursal' is a top commercial selection from Azerbaijan. It produces large, red skinned fruit with very juicy, deep red arils with a great sweet-tart flavour. One of the best cultivars for juicing. It is very productive. The fruit has excellent storing potential for up to four months. The gorgeous orange-red blooms provide a subtropical look. Said to be just as hardy as 'Salavatski' which withstands zone 6! This is a multi-stemmed deciduous shrub that grows up to 10 feet but is easy to keep smaller by pruning. Pomegranates require lots of sun and heat to bloom and fruit. They are self fertile and leaf out in late spring.
