Onoclea sensibilis

('productnameshort')

Onoclea sensibilis is a large, deciduous sensitive fern with long-stalked, deeply pinnatifid, bright green, fronds.

Description:
Onoclea sensibilis is a large, deciduous fern that features long-stalked, deeply pinnatifid, bright green, vegetative (sterile) fronds that are 2-4 feet long with leathery, triangular leaflets (pinnae) which have distinctively netted veins. The fertile fronds grow vertically through the foliage and are covered in round dark brown circular structures which gives this fern one of its common names: bead fern. The other is sensitive fern because the green vegetative fronds are sensitive to and suffer almost immediate damage from the first fall frost though plants are hardy to zone 4, possibly even 3! Loves moisture and is sensitive to drought.
