The culm sheaths fade from light green to a light creamy-white providing a dramatic, checkerboard look in spring to early summer. Prefers protection from hot afternoon sun. Matures to 15 feet. Use for privacy and screening. All members of the genus Fargesia are clumpers and do not produce running rhizomes.
