Chives are a small-growing member of the allium family. They have a mild onion flavour that is useful in many dishes. They grow in perennial tufts of narrow, hollow leaves and produce cute flowers in rounded lavender-purple clusters. The leaves and flowers are edible. Ornamental enough to use in the perennial border.
